St Patrick’s Academy – Dungannon
September 2018 saw the opening of St. Patrick’s Academy’s new £27 million state of the art building at Killymeal Road, Dungannon. The first sod on this project was cut in September 2016 by then Education Minister, Peter Weir, and pupils and staff alike are delighted to now enjoy their much anticipated facilities.
Keylite roof windows provide an incredibly striking enhancement to the canteen facilities of this new build, with a two tier system of windows casting the entire building into a bright, light and airy space for pupils to enjoy whilst at leisure. Designed to capitalise on the benefits of natural daylight, the architect on this project produced a striking roof design, incorporating banks of three Keylite roof windows across both floors of this building. A white finish interior was specified on this project to complement the contemporary design of the building, and the result is a beautiful modern space with light flooding throughout.
The benefits of natural light in education projects are well documented, with improved performance and enhanced health & growth all resulting, as well as the improved sustainability of the buildings themselves, all having been proved.
